Charles Wesley Jones

Asheville Charles Wesley Red Jones, 81, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at the home of his son in Covington, GA. A native for most of his life of Buncombe County, he served in the US Army 97th Artillery Battalion and was formerly employed with the City of Asheville Water & Sewer Department. He was a son of the late James Wesley Jones and Willie Kate Rice Jones and husband of the late Susie McAbee Jones. He was also preceded in death by his step son, Ricky Gamble; step daughter, Ann Jones; brother, James H. Jones and sister, Barbara Jones Murphy. Surviving are his daughter, Becky Jones White and husband Sonny of Asheville; son, Charles Wesley Chuck Jones, II of Covington, GA; step sons, David Sanders and Randy Gamble; step daughters, Debra Sanders, Elaine Gass, Debra Gamble and Jerry Boyer; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Austin of Asheville; brothers, Gerald Jones, Larry Jones and Ronnie Jones all of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Weldon Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the residence, 1 Central Avenue-West, Asheville.
