Charles Vess

Fletcher - Charles Winston Vess, 72, of Fletcher, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Vess was a 1961 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, and had attended A-B Technical Community College. He was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church and a veteran of US Air Force. He was a loving family man who loved to fish and camp and was an avid sports fan, particularly football. Mr. Vess was the son of the late Willard and Nellie Reid Vess. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Louise Hagan Vess; daughter, Tresa Edwards and husband Rock; granddaughter, Kourtney Edwards; sister, Mary Lee Mickey Eagle; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doyle Conley officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
