Charles S. Moore Jr.

Hot Springs - Charles Sylvester Moore, Jr., 85, of 10724 Highway 209, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004 in the Asheville V.A. Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Chalmers, IN, he had lived in Hot Springs for the past 41 years. He had attended Liberty Baptist Church and had served under Generals Patton and Bradley in the US Army during World War II. He was the son of the late Charles S. Moore, Sr. and Susie L. Dellinger Moore. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Vivian Bill Moore of Weaverville; two step-daughters: Rose Kuykendall and husband Perry L. of Asheville and Beverly Caldwell and husband Reuben of Asheville; a step-son, Thomas Keener and wife Kathy of Leicester; a sister, Betty Meyer of Monticello, IN; five step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, one step-great, great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The Rev. Greg Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Volunteer Memorial Team. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
