Charles Harry Belcher, Sr.

Charles Harry Belcher Sr., 83, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was born December 6, 1936 in Buncombe County, NC and proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Belcher was a graduate of Black Mountain High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina and retired from Ball Corporation following many years of service. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Arthur Belcher, Thelma Bailey Cothren, stepfather, Howard Cothren and two sisters, Nancy Belcher and Joyce Straehla and her husband Ned. Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory, two sons, Charles Belcher, Jr. and Scott Belcher (Cindy); three grandchildren, Ashley Belcher, Bonnie and Cassidy Belcher; the mother of his children and friend, Ruth Belcher. He is also survived by a brother Bill Belcher and sister Deanna Belcher, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be laid to rest at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
