Charles Frederick "Fred" Pinkerton

Leicester - Charles Frederick Fred Pinkerton, 63, died Tuesday November 25, 2003 at St. Josephs Hospital following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 2003 as President of Stroup Sheet Metal Works, Inc., was a member of the John A. Nichols Masonic Lodge, the Oasis Shrine Temple and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Pinkerton was the son of Grady Matthew Pinkerton of Skyland and the late Orphia Louise Swainey Pinkerton. Surviving are his wife, Jean Jones Pinkerton of the home; daughter, Michele Pinkerton Lawhern and husband, Eric of Burnsville; twin granddaughters, Grace Victoria Lawhern and Kathryn Faith Lawhern both of Burnsville; sisters, Louise Pinkerton Stroup and husband, H.B. of Weaverville and Mary Katherine Kitty Bryson and husband, Johnny of Fairview; brothers, Luther Eugene Gene Pinkerton and wife, Pat of Hickory, James Matthew Jim Pinkerton of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Thomas Grady Tom Pinkerton and wife, Elizabeth of Lake Wylie and Robert Allen Bob Pinkerton and wife, Melanie of Hertford; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oncology Unit, c/o Mission Hospital Foundation, 428 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, NC 28801.
