Charles Douglas Collins, age 68 of Woodfin, NC went to be with his precious savior on April 25, 2025, at Care Partners Solace Center. Doug was born on September 11, 1956, to Charles Lewis & Lydia Novella Collins.

He graduated from Clyde A. Erwin High School in 1974. He worked in construction and maintenance until 2013 and at that time took a position with Buncombe County Schools.

He and his loving wife, Jacqueline Morrow Collins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 2024. He is preceded in death by their daughter Danita Erin Shook and survived by two sons: Christopher Collins, and Caleb Collins and wife Zoe; son-in-law, Kelby Shook; grandchildren: Pailey Ketchum (Cole), Wyatt Shook, Lewis Collins, and Eva Collins; mother-in-law, Stella Stills (Cecil); sisters: Darleen Dover (Sammy), and Donna Shipman (Kenny); sister-in-law, Sandi Collins; numerous nieces, nephews, and many cousins and Aunt Gwen Collins and uncle Rev. Jackie Collins (Janice); lifetime special friends: Denise & Rick Huntley, Rev. Danny Little, and Rev. Garry Rogers; and many more close friends. He is preceded in death by Novella Collins (mother) & Charles Collins (dad), and two brothers, Dewayne Collins & Darin Collins.

Doug was known for his beautiful tenor voice, which he used as an instrument to praise his Savior Jesus Christ. He was a lifelong member of New Liberty Baptist where he served as a deacon, choir director, Sunday school teacher, and youth director at various times over the years. He will be greatly missed by his cherished church family. Doug and his sisters sang beautifully together for 27 years, The Collins Trio.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at New Liberty Baptist Church, 625 Olivette Rd, Asheville NC 28804, with Pastor Jonathan Sluder, Rev. Danny Little officiating. A committal service will follow at the church cemetery with Rev. Garry Rogers, and Rev. Jackie Collins officiating.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service, and everyone is invited to stay for a meal following the service.
