Charles Davis

Candler Charles Leroy Davis, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Davis spent the majority of his life farming. He was a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Davis was the son of the late Don and Mary Ray Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shealvey Jean Davis; sisters: Hazel Wright, Mae Davis, Ruth McElreath, Lucille Davis, and Katherine Davis; and brothers: Perry, Ray and Ted Davis. Surviving are his step-children: Patsy Hutto and husband Fred and Steven Sharpe and wife Louise; 7 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Austin Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:30 PM Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
