Asheville – Charles “Charlie” Erick Cox, Sr., 79, went home to be with the Lord and gained his wings on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the Carepartners Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Kingstree, SC, he had resided in Buncombe County, NC most of his life. He was the son of the late Lonnie Howell Cox and Nellie Muir Rogers.
Charlie was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and worked for Revco Scientific / Thermo Fisher for 35 years until retirement. He was also a Past Master of Nichols West Asheville Lodge A.F. & A.M. #650, and former member of Blackmer Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M. and a Shriner with the Oasis Shriners. He also belonged to the Harley Davidson and Honda Motor Cycle Clubs.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 1/2 years, Linda Langley Cox;
daughter, Lori Rogers and husband Kevin; son, Charles “Chuck” Erick Cox, Jr. and wife Lou; grandchildren: Kyles Ball, Tyler Richardson, Zackary Cox and wife Destiny, and Danielle Rogers; great-grandson, Liam Sweet; beloved dog, Bella; and many extended family and friends.
A private memorial service to honor Charlie’s life will be held at a later date and his remains will be interred at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
