Charlene Beatrice Major

Asheville - Charlene Beatrice Major of 602-B Walton Street died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at her residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She had attended South French Broad Jr. High School and was a daughter of Florence Yvonne Mosley Ray of Asheville and the late Charles Paul Major. She was also the Mother to the late Octavia Major and Shanika Niyiel Major. Surviving are six sisters, four brothers, several nieces and nephews and several cousins including Clarence Major of Asheville. Joint funeral services for Ms. Major and her daughters will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Tad Marshall and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.
