Cecil Mcintosh

August 25, 1924 — November 9, 2001

Asheville - Cecil McIntosh , 77, of 261 School Road - East, died Friday, November 9, 2001 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A native of Bee Log section of Yancey County. He had resided in Buncombe County for the past 6 years and was a son of the late Jim and Nancy Ledford McIntosh. Mr. McIntosh retired in 1967 from the U.S. Navy serving during W.W. I I and Vietnam War as a Utilitiesman 1st Class. He later retired from the Department of the Navy Civil Service as a Pipefitter and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Joann Williams McIntosh of the home; son, Kenneth Alan McIntosh of San Diego, California; grand daughter, Bailey L. McIntosh of San Diego; sisters, Pat Head of Asheville and Hazel Zimmer of Dayton, Ohio; brother, Jack P. McIntosh of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Rector officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 425 Rice Road, Asheville, N.C. 28806 or to Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813.
