Arden – Carroll Luther Tweed, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Mission Hospital. He is now reunited with the love of his life. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 2001 from TDP (Tandy Corp) as a Production Line Supervisor. He was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church where he was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher for many years, and was a former member of Biltmore Baptist Church. Carroll was very active in the South Asheville Little League and Oakley Youth Sports Programs, serving as a coach, referee, umpire and commissioner. He influenced the lives of so many young men, and served as a wonderful role model. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and always put his family first. Carroll was a true friend to all who knew him. He was a US Army Vietnam War combat veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Tweed was a son of the late Luther Nay Tweed and Bertha Lanelle Warren Tweed and husband of Gloria “Cricket” Tweed who died February 16, 2003. Surviving are his daughter, Michelle Whisenant (Randall) of Winston-Salem; son, Bryan Tweed (Amy Sedberry) of Mt. Holly; grand dogs, Chance & Bailey; sister, Brenda Metz of Asheville and Wanda Blackwell of Rockingham; brother, Alan Hayes Tweed (Liz) of Weaverville; many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and close neighbors who loved and looked after him. Funeral services will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Bent Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. William Moore and Rev. Tommy Bridges officiating. The family will receive friends following services at the church. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 2:30 PM at Bent Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
