Carroll Rice

Asheville Carroll Dean Rice, 74, of 130 Goldview Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 where Heaven gained a new angel. A resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, he retired from Coldwell Banker Realty where he served in Real Estate since 1986 and was formerly employed with the Bank of Asheville from 1972-1985. He was a 1960 graduate of North Buncombe High School and attended Asheville-Biltmore College. He was a member of the North Buncombe Optimist Club where he had served as President two terms and was a member of the Junior Achievements and he formerly played the piano with the Kingsmen and Tonesmen Quartets. He was the son of the late Rufus Hugh Rice and Edna Gage Greene Rice. Surviving are his wife whom he married in 1985, Wanda Gail Lunsford Rice of the home; children, Brent Rice and Tamra Gail Rice both of Asheville and Angela Renee Angel (Paul) of Weaverville; grandsons, Dylan Moody and Houston Norton; sister, Brenda Rhodes of Asheville; nephew, Chad Williams and numerous cousins. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Larry Edwards officiating. For those that wish, the family will receive friends at the residence. Carroll was a loving and dedicated husband, father, papaw, brother and uncle who always put his family first. He was well known and had the demeanor and personality that everyone loved.
