Carroll Lewis Mitchell

Fairview - Carroll Lewis Mitchell, 74, of 928 Old Fort Rd. Lot 1, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A native of Transylvania County, had lived for most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a member of Emma Baptist Church. Mr. Mitchell was the son of the late William Tomiss and Mary Elizabeth Greene Mitchell and was the husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Haney Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Gene Mikey Mitchell. Surviving are his daughters, Elizabeth Banks and Sherry Walters both of Fairview and Sheila Shockey and husband Joseph of Etowah; sons, Terry Haney and wife Sharon of Swannanoa and Gary Lewis Mitchell and wife Hope of Candler; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Sorrells and Joel Pressley officiating. Burial will be in Mtn. View Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends form 7 until 9 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
