Carolyn Powell

Carolyn Roland Powell of Candler, NC died at the age of 86 on May 23, 2019 at Aston Park after an extended illness. She was married to the late Walter Odell Powell for 64 years. She was born in Old Fort, NC and lived most of her life in Buncombe County. Carolyn was a devoted Christian and member of West Asheville Baptist Church. After her retirement in the furniture business, she enjoyed art and writing Christian books distributing them globally. Her oldest daughter, Sheila Justus of Candler, preceded her death in 2013. Surviving family members are a daughter, Thresa Lukacena of Fletcher NC; granddaughter, Katlyn Lukacena Valdes and grandsons, Jordan Lukacena, Donnie Miller, Brad Justus and Louie Justus. A family graveside service is planned for Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
