Carol Beth Anderson

September 25, 1963 — May 10, 2002

Asheville - Carol Beth Anderson, 38, of 1225 Gorman Bridge Rd. died Friday, May 10, 2002 at Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a courageous battle for the last eight months with ovarian cancer. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a 1981 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School and was a 1986 graduate of UNCA where she received her B.A. in Psychology and Education. She was formerly employed for 14 years as a Service Representative with the Asheville Social Security Office. Miss Anderson was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church where she faithfully served as choir member, director of Hand Bells, S.S. Teacher of the Young Adults, and on numerous committees within the church. She was preceded in death by her sister Charlotte Ann Lottie Anderson who died in October, 1968. Surviving are her parents, Charles W. and Joan Runion Anderson of the home; sister, Cecelia Lynn Hensley and husband Rev. Dr. Jeff L. Hensley of Venice, FL; nephews, Christopher Joshua Hensley, Nicholas Daniel Hensley and Alexander Samuel Hensley all of Venice; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Newbridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Clark E. Henderson and the Rev. Dr. Jeff L. Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her cousins, Alan Wooley, Rick Roberson, Randy Roberson, Phil Runion, Tim Runion, Harvey Stackhouse, Burton Anderson, and Jackie Anderson and lifelong friend, Bruce Greene. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Monday at the church. At other times, the family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Ave., Asheville, NC 28804 for Miss Andersons nephew Nicholas Hensley who has Muscular Dystrophy. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is serving the family.
