Carl Hardy Fisher

October 31, 1920 — August 16, 2002

Asheville - Carl Hardy Fisher, 81, of 200 Tunnel Rd., Apt. 351 died Friday, August 16, 2002 at the VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC. A native of Madison County, he had lived for most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WW II. Mr. Fisher was the son of the late William and Dora Kent Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Thursa Benfield and Lillie Clubb, and his brothers, Carroll and Harl Fisher. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Layman Fisher of the home; daughters, Judy Johnston and husband Bobby of Asheville, Carla McLendon and husband Charles of Swannanoa, Patricia Fisher of Asheville, and Angela Wilson and husband Bruce of Fayetteville; sons, Charles Fisher and wife Jane of Amarillo, TX, Bruce Fisher and wife Laura of Weaverville, and Henry Fisher and wife Linda of Swannanoa; sisters, Willa Mae Trudeau and Rita Collins, both of Knoxville, TN, Harriet Duckett of Asheville, and Eula Prince of Canton; brothers, Posey Fisher, Locke Fisher, and Oscar Fisher all of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Rearden officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
