Burl Ledford

Asheville – Burl Lee Ledford, 85, went to be with the Lord Monday, October 16, 2023.


He was a native of Yancey County and moved to Buncombe County in 1969. He was a Furniture Maker and a son of the late Edgar Mack Ledford and Carrie Scott Ledford and husband of the late Dora Mae Edwards Ledford.


He was a member of Bald Mountain Freewill Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC, an ordained minister of French Broad Freewill Baptist Ministers Conference and Association and Founder of Valley Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Black Mountain, NC.


Surviving are his son, Dwight K. Ledford (Jessica) of Asheville; daughter, Mary Helton (Steve) of Bristol, VA; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Ledford of Arden and Geraline Briggs (Charles) of Micaville; brothers, Edward Ledford of Westerville, OH, Charles Ledford (Carolyn) and Clyde Ledford (Sandy) all of Inman, SC and Brooks Ledford (Barbara) of Concord; several Nieces and nephews.


Graveside services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Coates officiating.
