Bud "Papaw" Gaddy

Asheville Johnny Harold Bud Papaw Gaddy, 77, of 334 Riverview Drive passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired in 1985 from the Asheville Housing Authority. Mr. Gaddy was the son of the late John Herchel Gaddy and Hattie Marlowe Gaddy. He was also preceded in death by his companion of 40 years, Louise McCurry; brother, Jimmy Gaddy and step son, Gus McCurry. Surviving are his step daughter, Rita Wright and companion, Chris Lunsford of the home; step son, Danny McCurry and companion, Joyce and step daughter-in-law, Freda McCurry all of Asheville; grandchildren, Tammy, Heath, Stephanie, Travis, Jessica & Sandy and 8 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Monday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Brockwell and Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr. officiating. Friends may visit from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
