Bruce Penland

Candler Larry Bruce Penland, 63, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2017. A native of Buncombe County, in his younger years, he had the privilege to play the upright bass with the Primitive Quartet. He was in sales most of his life, including insurance, Petroleum Equipment Business and later became a Commercial Real Estate Broker. Mr. Penland was the son of the late Huelon William Penland and Betty Penland Rogers. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Penland. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Joy Penland, of the home; sons: Jeremy Penland, Clay Penland (Sarah), Grandson, Elijah Penland, (all of Balsam); Brother, Dennis Penland (Asheville); Sister, Diane Davis of Candler and half-brother, Myron Rogers, of Candler and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Trinity Baptist Church (Asheville) with Pastor Allen Rash and Rev. Larry Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Enka). The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 AM Tuesday, prior to the service at the church.
