Asheville Bonnie Gregg King, 81, of Asheville, passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at the Laurels of GreenTree Ridge. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. King was a 1949 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, and retired from the US Forest Service as a Fire Tower Operator. She had attended the First Christian Church of Asheville. Mrs. King was the daughter of the late Cash and Ida Brown Gregg, and the wife of the late Robert M. King, who passed away in 1999. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Ida King; sister, Shirley Whitener; and brothers: Clarence, Harry, and Paul Gregg. Surviving are her son, Tom King and wife Deborah of Candler; grandchildren: Rebekah King Dove and husband, Rev. Timothy Dove, and Michael King and fianc Kim Harris, all of Candler; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Elinor Gregg of Hendersonville and Joyce Gregg of Asheville; and brothers: Robert Gregg of Inman, SC and Donald Gregg of Asheville. A Celebration of Mrs. Kings Life will be held at 6 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with the Rev. Timothy Dove officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Upper Hominy Fire Department, 1795 Pisgah Highway, Candler, NC 28715.
