Bobby Joe King

December 22, 1935 — February 10, 2003

Asheville - Bobby Joe King, 67, of 2 Powers Dr. died Monday, February 10, 2003 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired in 1997 from National Linen Corp as a Route Salesman. He was formerly employed with Swannanoa Laundry for 17 years and with Colonial Bakery for 16 years. He was a member of Crossroads Assembly of God where he worked with the Royal Rangers. He was a former coach with the West Asheville Little League. Mr. King was the son of the late Horace Melton King and Daisey Haney King and was also preceded in death by his step son, Johnny Angel. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Virginia Tilson King of the home; daughters, Joyce Ingle and husband Malcolm, Barbara Maney and husband Jack, and Becky King, all of Asheville, and Theresa Vess and husband Joel of Fairview; sons, Charles King of Asheville and Bobby Daniel King and wife Stephanie of Greensboro; sister, Hope Mills of Asheville; brothers, Don Haney of Silver Springs, MD, Sam King of Alexander, Earl King and Jim King both of Asheville; and Scott King of Canton; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday at Crossroads Assembly of God with the Revs. Wade Zachary and Bob Chuprevich officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
