Bobby Gus "Papaw" Wilson Sr.

Asheville - Bobby Gus Papaw Wilson, Sr., 70, of 136 Weiss Rd. died Friday, August 29, 2003 at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center. A native of Madison County he had lived in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was the son of the late Major and Pearl Morrow Wilson and he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Pansy Woody and Helen Forester. Surviving are his son, Bobby Gus Wilson, Jr. and wife Sissy of Asheville; daughters, Brenda Tener and husband Richard of Asheville, Barbara DeBruhl and husband Lonnie of Asheville; and Belinda Bircher and husband Scott of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Amanda DeBruhl, Tiffany DeBruhl, Ashley DeBruhl, Brandon Freeman, Joey Garcia, Allison Wilson, Bobby Wilson, III, and Jake Murdock; great grandchildren, Justin Lance, Jasmine Lance, and Lily Angel; the mother of his children, Lorene Buckner Wilson; sisters, Della Kate Shook of Asheville, Lorilee Hughes of Greenville, SC, Jo Bowman of Clinton, TN, and Naydene Ward of Weaverville; brothers, Bruce Wilson of Asheville and Jack Wilson of Taylorsville; several nieces and nephews; special friend, June Silvers. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Homer Murdock, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
