Asheville – Garland Bobby “Bob” Craft, 91, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the NC State Veterans Home. A native of Magnolia, Mississippi, he had resided in Asheville since 1954. He retired from the National Climatic Center following over 30 years of service as a Computer Programmer. He was a member of the Oakley UMC where he was a member of the Joy SS Class and served on numerous committees. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the US Army. Mr. Craft was the son of the late Garland Troy Craft and Ethel Mary Jane Harden Craft and husband of Evelyn Barbara Whitaker Craft who died November 5, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Hill, Estelle Williams, Pauline Crowe and infant sister, Virginia Aileen Craft. Surviving are his daughters, Ramona Whichello and husband Steve of Asheville, Marcia Hendrix and husband, Noel of Mills River and Karen Craft of Asheville; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 21, 2022, in the chapel of the Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Noel Hendrix officiating. Burial with follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by the NC National Guard. The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 AM Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Delta Unit of the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain for the love and care given to our Dad.
