Blanche W. Stamey

CANTON Blanche Wilson Stamey, 90, formerly of 29 Gilbert Street went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and resident most of her life of Haywood County. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Canton where she was a former Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years and former Director of the WMU for over 10 years. Mrs. Stamey was a daughter of the late Reece A. Wilson and Legie Louise Burnette Wilson and wife of T.J. Tater Stamey who died November 5, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Cleo Towe, formerly of Canton, granddaughter, Erin Denise Huggins and nephew, Ronnie Towe, formerly of Canton. Surviving are her daughter, Sherry Lynn Huggins and husband Rev. Dean Huggins of Weaverville; grandson, Charles Jay Huggins and wife Ashley of Canton; great grandchildren, Erin & Skyler; sister, Betty Wilson Ward of Hendersonville; nieces, Brenda Sutton, Tanya Ward and Cynthia Delessio. Funeral services will be held 10 A.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Huggins officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Canton. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Sherry & Dean Huggins, 18 Ford Valley Road, Weaverville, N.C.
