Billy Charles Summey

Billy Charles Summey, 87, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. Mr. Summey was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of the late Linton T. Summey, Sr. and Nellie Viola Austin Summey. He was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Ruth Snipes Summey who passed on October 1, 1976; sisters: Willena Summey Sams, Nora Lee Summey Cogburn, and Ruby Nell Summey Anderson; and brothers: Linton T. Summey, Jr., Benny L. Summey, Hubert Roger Summey, James Winford Summey, and Robert Louie Summey. Surviving are his wife, Wanda F. Summey; children: Steve Summey and wife Allison of South Carolina, Chip Summey of Hendersonville, Kathy Sloan and husband Phil of Candler, and Karen Heatherly and husband Charles of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons: Tyler Heatherly and wife, Logan and Nathan Heatherly; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, January 21, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Thurman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John F.
