Bill Riebell

December 1, 1944 — February 18, 2021

Asheville – William Albert “Bill” Riebell, 76, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Rochester, NY, he had resided in Asheville since the late 60’s. He worked with Securitas as a Security Officer and formerly worked with Biltmore Press and Hickory Printing Company. He was a member of Oakley United Methodist Church and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war. Mr. Riebell was the son of the late Floyd Dan-Belton Riebell and Alice Julia Schultz Riebell and husband of Joyce Alene Sprouse Riebell who died May 9, 2016. Surviving are his sons, Robert Jordan Riebell and wife Tammy of Fletcher and Joseph William Riebell of Asheville; grandchildren: William Jordan Riebell of Landrum, SC and Heather Miller and husband Thomas of Fletcher; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Hayley; sister, Betty Zufelt of Laurens, SC and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 21, 2021 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Joanne Coates officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the US Navy. A time of gathering will follow services at the funeral home. Burial, along with his wife, will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
