Bill Buchanan

Candler Mr. Bill Buchanan was welcomed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on September 9, 2011. He was the son of the late Lee H. Buchanan, and Ruby B. Buchanan, who just celebrated her 90th birthday. He always appreciated even the smallest act of kindness. He was a man of humor and always had a story to tell. Mr. Buchanan loved basketball and was a devoted Duke Bluedevils fan. He also enjoyed baseball and helped his late father-in-law cheer on the Atlanta Braves. But nothing brought him greater joy than his grandchildren, Jackson Kitchin (13) and Rachel Kitchin (7). He will be missed by his wife of 43 years, Shirley; his daughter, Sharon Kitchin; his son-in-law, Gregg Kitchin; his cherished mother, Ruby Buchanan; his devoted sisters: Phyllis Roberts and Doris Anne Buchanan; but none will miss him like his grandchildren, Jackson and Rachel. We will see you again. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Yelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
