Candler – Betty Ann Hughes Trantham, 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. Mrs. Trantham was a native of Rutherford County and had resided in Buncombe County all of her adult life. She was a daughter of the late Waye Waits Hughes and Floy Jeanette Sinclair Hughes and wife of the late Harry Donald Trantham who died in October 2003. Mrs. Trantham was also preceded in death by her son, Lonnie Trantham and grandson, Richard Trantham. Mrs. Trantham retired in 1992 from Burlington Industry following 35 years of service and at the time of her retirement served as Office Manager. Surviving are her children, Don Trantham and wife Brenda, Vickie Carter and husband Dwight and Ross Trantham and wife Patsy all of Candler and Gary Trantham of Cullowhee; daughter-in-law, Debbie Trantham of Leicester; sisters, Donise Goodnough of Leicester and Janice Sprouse and husband Hillard of Asheville; brothers, Jim Hughes and wife Sarah and David Hughes all of Asheville; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Ben Heise and Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the love and care given to our family and our mom by the Hero’s of Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
