Asheville – Betty Meadows, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the Swannanoa Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheville.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a graduate of Mars Hill College. Mrs. Meadows retired from the N.C. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Center and was a longtime member of Emma United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and making great memories together. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Meadows was a daughter of the late Henry Shuford and Mary Patton Shuford, and the wife of the late John Troy Meadows. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Kate Seaward and Laura Shuford; and by her twin brother, Lewis Shuford.
Surviving are her son, John L. Meadows; and daughter, Mary Emmagene Mangum and husband Reid.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, December 12, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Cash officiating. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery in Swannanoa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
A special thanks to all the staff and caregivers at the Swannanoa Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center and Four Seasons Hospice for their love and support given to our family.
