Betty Jean Tolley

Asheville - Betty Jean Tolley, 73, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Oaks of Sweeten Creek Healthcare Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Ms. Tolley worked as a floor supervisor in the textile industry and was a member of The United Christian Church. She loved music, family and family reunions, to have fun, and for life in general. Ms. Tolley will be remembered as a hardworking woman, sometimes holding multiple jobs in tandem in order to make sure neighborhood children could have something for Christmas and Easter. Her greatest desire was to always be giving back to her community. Ms. Tolley was the daughter of the late Justin Cecil and Lillian Calloway Tolley. She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Annabelle Lillian; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Branks and her husband Paul; and brothers: Richard and Cecil Tolley. Surviving are her son, Jonathan Tolley and wife Jennifer; granddaughter, Katie Tolley and fiancé Tyler Fetta; niece, Donna Ledford; and several great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Tolley will be held at a later date.
