Asheville – Betty Jean Benson Coleman Moore, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 17, 2023, at her home while surrounded by family.
Mrs. Moore was born on March 27, 1933, to Rev. Horace “Tobe” Benson and Nellie Warren Benson. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Arney Fields; and brothers: Horace Benson, Jr. and J.B. Benson.
She was a member of Deaverview Evangelical Tabernacle and attended Luther Pentecostal Holiness Church. She worked for Work Wear Corporation / Mars Manufacturing until retirement.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Rev. Homer Moore, Jr; daughters: Brenda Coleman, and Margaret Coleman; sons: Jerry Coleman, Richard Coleman and wife Cathey, and David Coleman and wife Susan; step-sons: David Moore and wife Monica, Richard Moore, and Larry Moore and wife June; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert Benson, and Jack Benson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Green and Tim Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
