Betty Jane Penland

Asheville - Betty Jane Francis Penland, 77 of 46 Jonestown Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday July 3, 2002. A Native of Buncombe County, she had resided in Kingsport, Tn. for several years before returning to Buncombe County in 1986 and was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Jennings Bryan and Edith Thomas Francis. Surviving are her husband, Donald William Penland of the home; son, Bill Penland and wife Barbara of Knoxville, Tn.; granddaughters, Meredith and Anna Penland both of Knoxville, Tn. and sister, Marjorie Foster of Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Newbridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Clark Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
