Betty Ailene Grant

Betty Ailene Chandler Grant, 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Mission Hospital.

  A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Bascomb Chandler and Devonna Jones Chandler and the wife of the late Denver E. Grant, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Barry Clayton; daughters-in-law: Jessie Grant, and Linda Grant; and six siblings.

  Mrs. Grant was a longtime member of East Asheville United Methodist Church and retired from T.C. Smith Pharmacy. 

  Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Denver Grant, Jr. and wife Jeanette, Donna Clayton, Doris Garris and husband LaBaron, and Robert A. Grant; grandchildren: Michael Grant and wife Stephanie, Christy Tripi and husband Sean, Leslie Davis and husband Nathan, Josh Garris and wife Donna, Travis Clayton and wife Amy, and Russell Clayton and wife Melissa; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Glenn Chandler; and many nieces and nephews.

  Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at East Asheville United Methodist Church, 48 Browndale Rd, Asheville, NC 28805, with Pastor James Lamb and Pastor Phil Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Cane Creek Cemetery. 

  The family will receive friends on Friday from 1 till 2 PM at the church prior to services.

  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to East Asheville United Methodist Church, 48 Browndale Rd, Asheville, NC 28805.
