Betty Goldsmith

Asheville – Betty Lois Collins Goldsmith passed from her temporal life to her eternal life on November 7, 2021 at Care Partners Solace Center after a lengthy battle with illness. Born on April 10, 1934, she lived a blessed life for 87 years. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior and has been reunited with a host of loved ones who have gone before her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Garrett Goldsmith. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Fannie and Lewis Collins, her sisters, Clara Rogers (James), Martha Curry (Ralph), and her brothers, Charles Collins (Novella), Harold Collins, Jerry Collins (Donna), and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her three sons, John Michael (Angie) of Fairview, Stephen Keith (Margo) of Weaverville, and Leslie Kent (Terri) of Ramona, California. Also, her brother, Reverend Jack Collins (Jan) of Candler, and sister-in-law, Gwen Collins of Mills River. Also, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted by Reverend Jack Collins at Green Hills Cemetery at noon on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. The family will gather at the funeral home from 10AM until 11:30AM on Wednesday to pay their final respects and to receive any relatives or friends who want to stop by. The family would like to offer special thanks and appreciation for those who were of great assistance during her illness, including but not limited to, her neighbors, Keith and Sandra Parham and Miriam Helton, her caregivers at Fleshers of Fairview Health Care Center, Mission Hospital, and Care Partners Solace Center. A very special thanks to one of our own, Terri Goldsmith, who flew in from California and sacrificed five weeks of her life staying with mom until arrangements could be made for her long term care facility.
