Betty "Bj" Plemmons

Asheville – Betty “BJ” Plemmons, 77, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024. This beautiful angel on earth lovingly known as “BJ” and “Nana”, is now with her Heavenly Father and reunited with parents, Gloria and Louis Cundiff, and her precious daughter, Heidi Renee Plemmons.

She lived her life like a true angel on earth. Her hugs were magical, and they would love you so hard, and celebrate you in every moment of every day and heal your heart and soul even when you didn’t know you needed it. She would hold you until her love had passed through, and you knew it. Her greatest life’s achievement was being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her unconditional outpouring of love made a lasting impact on all those in her life.

BJ graduated from Reynolds High School in 1964 and then graduated from St. Genevieve-of-the-Pines School. She worked for the Buncombe County Register of Deeds until retirement in 1993 and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years. BJ and Richard are longtime members of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Richard Plemmons; children: Chris Plemmons and wife Suzanne, and Holly Shriner and husband Foster; special grandchildren Avienne and Alexandria; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Marty Cundiff and wife Jan; and her travel buddies, the “Yahoo Sisters”: Kay, Jeanette, and Judy.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 till 1:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
