Betty Ann Marks Williams

October 27, 1929 — July 26, 2013

Betty Ann Marks Williams, 83, went to be with her Lord Jesus on July 26, 2013. Betty was at home surrounded by her family in Asheville. She was born on October 27, 1929 in Rutherford County, NC, to the late Michael Pinkney Marks and Hathleen Baber Marks. Betty was preceded in death by her dear husband of almost 59 years, Gaston Marvin Williams and her brother, Edward Marks of Charlotte. Betty grew up and attended school in Mecklenburg County. After school, she worked at Iveys in Charlotte. During her marriage and after the birth of their daughters, Betty was able to be a stay-at-home mom. What a faithful, steadfast blessing she was to her husband and two daughters! Betty greatly loved and was extremely proud of her two daughters, Marie Williams and Kathy Luther, as well as Kathys husband, Joey, all of Asheville. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Luther of Chattanooga, TN and Carole Luther of Asheville. Betty was a member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a part of the Covenant Class as well as former president and lifetime associate member of the Central United Methodist Women. Betty and her late husband, Marvin, were also former and very active members of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte, NC. She spent many years volunteering at Saint Josephs Hospital in Asheville and Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. The family would like to thank CarePartners Home Care Services of Asheville for their loving care and support. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11 AM at Central United Methodist Church, located at 27 Church Street, Asheville. Rev. Julie Wilburn Peeler will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM till 11:00 AM at the church.
