HENDERSONVILLE - BESSIE PARHAM FOX, 87, FORMERLY OF 20 COTTAGE STREET, ASHEVILLE, DIED THURSDAY MARCH 15, 2001 AT MARGARET PARDEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AFTER A PERIOD OF DECLINING HEALTH. A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BUNCOMBE COUNTY. SHE HAD RESIDED IN HENDERSON COUNTY FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. MRS. FOX RETIRED FROM WOODFIN SCHOOL CAFETERIA AFTER 20 YEARS OF SERVICE, SHE WAS THE OLDEST MEMBER OF ELK MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH IN ASHEVILLE WHERE MEMBER FOR 68 YEARS. SHE WAS A CHARTER MEMBER OFTHE WOODFIN SENIOR CITIZENS CLUB OF WHICH SHE HELPED ORGANIZE AND OF THE W.N.C. HOME EXTENTION CLUB SINCE 1945. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE HENRY AND CARRIE RYMER PARHAM AND THE WIFE OF CLYDE JAMES FOX WHO DIED JUNE 29, 1979. SURVIVING ARE HER SONS, JIMMY FOX OF NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. AND JOHN FOX AND WIFE, HARRIETT OF HENDERSONVILLE; SISTER, HAZEL FORE AND HUSBAND, SAM OF FLETCHER; BROTHER, RICHARD PARHAM OF ASHEVILLE; GRANDCHILDREN, DONNA FOX WIGGINS AND HUSBAND, DANNY WHOM SHE MADE HER HOME WITH, REBECCA BATCHELORS, MELISSA OWENBY, BRYAN FOX AND JEF FOX; GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ELIZABETH WIGGINS, JEEFREY OWENBY, ANDREW OWENBY, ANDI BATCHELORS, MADISON FOX AND WESTON FOX. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11 A.M. MONDAY AT ELK MOUNTAIN BAPTIST CHURCH WITH THE REVS DEAN HUGGINS AND DR. JOHN T. TILLER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN MACEDONIA BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY, ASHEVILLE. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 4 TO 6 P.M. SUNDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME, ASHEVILLE WHERE MRS. FOX WILL REMAIN UNTIL TAKEN TO THE CHURCH 30 MINUITES PRIOR TO SERVICES. AT OTHER TIMES THE FAMILY WILL BE AT THE HOME OF, HER SON, JOHN FOX , 332 FIRST AVENUE-WEST, HENDERSONVILLE, N.C.
