Asheville - Bertha Bagwell Dellinger, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Harmony Square at Reynolds Mountain. A native of Fairview, Mrs. Dellinger graduated from Fairview High School, and then from Gardner-Webb University and Queens University. She had resided in Drexel, NC for 47 years before moving to North Myrtle Beach, SC for another 10 years, returning to Asheville in 2011. During her time in Drexel, Mrs. Dellinger owned a crafts store in Morganton, and was instrumental in founding the Women’s Club of Drexel. She was a spirited woman who loved games, crafts, and her family, and will always be remembered for her warm smile and playful sense of humor. Mrs. Dellinger was the daughter of the late Thomas Stanhope and Grace Spivey Bagwell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Dr. Clyde James Dellinger; daughter, Dr. Charlene Dellinger-Pate and husband Steven; son, Thomas Dellinger and wife Kimberly; grandchildren: Reagan, Noah, and Grace; sister, Lou Hager; and several nieces and nephews. Private memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Asheville, of which she was a member. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Dellinger's family with her arrangements.
