Asheville Berlin Lee Riddle, 91, of 1680 Hendersonville Road-Apt #B-4, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he had resided in Asheville most of his life. He was an Underground Tunnel Miner, was a member of the Local 147 Miners Union, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #891, was of the Baptist faith and was a US Navy veteran during WWII. Mr. Riddle was the son of the late Clayton James Riddle and Winnie Mae Lowe Riddle and husband of Evelyn Lee Burchfield who died August 14, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Blanche Hawkins. Surviving are his children, Elaine Lydiatte (Ed), Nancy Chockley (Bill) all of Ashevile, Yvonne Higgins (Steve) of Arden and Jeff Riddle of Asheville; step children, Dywan Totherow (Vickie) of Arden, Jerry Totherow of Lake Hartwell, SC and Anita McKinney of Arden; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at his residence.
