Leicester Benjamin James Bud Kirkpatrick, 55, of 47 Crowder Road, went to be with his Lord Friday, March 17, 2006 at his residence, following a period of declining health. A native of Haywood County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1972. He was employed with Day International for 16 years, and was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Kirkpatrick was the son of the late James and Hazel Rathbone Kirkpatrick. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Barbara Fleming Kirkpatrick, of the home; daughter, Kimberly Dawn Kirkpatrick of Asheville; two grandchildren: Joshua and Sydney Sluder, both of Asheville; four sisters: Etta Young of Hot Springs, Maggie Allen of Leicester, Lucille Kirkpatrick Holt of Clyde, and Jessie Kirkpatrick of Candler; three brothers: Alvin, Harry and Joe Kirkpatrick, all of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Cable and Rev. David Scruggs officiating. Burial will be in the Community Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home, and at other times at the residence.
