Candler Benjamin Hudson Harrison, 40, went to be with his Lord Friday, November 28, 2008 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of San Diego, California, he grew up in Newbern, NC and had resided in Buncombe County the past 10 years. He was a Security Officer at Mission Hospitals, was a Third Degree Black Belt and served as an Instructor of Taekwondo at the ATA Black Belt Academy and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran having served in the Gulf War. Ben was a loving and faithful husband, father and family man. He was a son of William McKinnley Harrison & wife, Mildred Harrison of Newbern, NC and the late Frances Faye Hudson Harrison. Surviving in addition to his father and step-mother are his wife, Teresa Orozco-Harrison of the home; children, Aaron Orozco & fiancee Sue-Anne McCloy of Roanoke, VA, Brittany Harrison, Zachary Harrison, Corey Harrison and Victoria Orozco all of Candler; granddaughter, Alana Smallwood of Roanoke, VA; sisters, Margie Ellis and Barbara Jackson both of Newbern and Sherri Brander of Melbourne, FL; brother, Billy Harrison of California; father & mother-in-law, John & Sandra Frye of Candler and best friend, Anthony Davis of Salisbury. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Chaplain Dorri Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in the WNC State Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
