CANDLER - BARBARA JEAN "BOBBIE" OWNBEY BARNETT, 67, OF 104 JUSTICE RIDGE ROAD DIED SATURDAY, APRIL 21, 2001 AT MEMORIAL MISSION HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF MOREHEAD CITY, SHE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY FOR MOST OF HER LIFE. MRS. BARNETT REITRED IN 1994 FROM THE AMERICA ENKA CORPORATION AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE AS A MACHINE OPERATOR. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF THE LATE JACK SMITH OWNBEY, SR. AND CARRA JANE PENLEY OWNBEY AND WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A BROTHER, JACK SMITH OWNBEY, JR. SURVIVING ARE HER HUSBAND, JOHN MANLEY BARNETT, SR. OF THE HOME; SON, JOHN MANLEY BARNETT, JR. AND WIFE, SUE FORTAG BARNETT OF DOVER; DAUGHTER, DEBRA JEAN BORG AND FINANCE, FRED W. WILLIAMS BOTH OF LAKE LURE; SISTERS, ANN REECE OF HUDSON, FAYE FEEBACK OF CONCORD, VELDA BROOKS OF OTEEN AND WANDA MOORE OF FAIRVIEW; BROTHERS, RAY OWNBEY OF CANDLER, BILL OWNBEY OF BLACK MOUNTAIN, MACK OWNBEY OF ORANGEBURG, S.C., SONNY OWNBEY OF NEWTON AND RONNIE OWNBEY OF OTEEN; 4 GRANDCHILDREN; 3 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND A NUMBER OF NIECES AND NEPHEWS. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE 11 AM TUESDAY IN THE CHAPEL OF THE ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL BE IN SKYVIEW MEMORIAL PARK.
