Barbara Jean Benedict

Barbara Jean Benedict entered Eternal Life on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Pardee Hospital.

Barbara was a native of Cherokee County and resided in Buncombe County from 1946 until moving to Henderson County fourteen years ago. She is a daughter of the late Arnold Samuel Grant and Virgie Lee McMahan Grant. She is also preceded in death by her husbands: Robert Theodore Swink, Herman Ernest Baer, and William “Bill” Benedict; and brothers: Jim Grant and Jerry Grant.

Barbara worked for the Kellwood Company from 1966 until retirement and then owned and operated Three Baer Daycare for many years where she was affectionately known as “Grandmother Baer”. She was also a longtime member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for more than 50 years. She loved her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, David “Randy” Hannah and Fiancée Melanie Rice; daughters: Tamela Tra’gee Blankenship and husband Larry, and Barbara Lee Jones and husband Frank C. Jones; granddaughters: Jessica, Samantha, and Brittney; great-granddaughters: Lindsey, Mckenzie, Madison, and Hannah; special friend, Kristie Moore; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Trinity of Fairview with Pastor Stacey Harris officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 till 12 at the church.
