Barbara Jean Anderson

Asheville – Barbara Jean Metcalf Anderson passed on Friday, March 19, 2021, at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of North Carolina and resident for most of her life in Buncombe County, she retired from the postal service after 23 years of service. Mrs. Anderson was active in the community for many decades as a volunteer Bible educator. The North Asheville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses will significantly miss her practical and loving presence. Mrs. Anderson was a daughter of the late Gaither George Metcalf and Pansy Ramsey Metcalf. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Beatrice Metcalf Goff, Estelle Glen Metcalf, Alda Metcalf Trotta, Hoy Clarence Metcalf, Edward Charles Metcalf. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband Donald W. Anderson, her sister Juanita Metcalf Cisek of Oakland, California, nieces Dawn Marie Cisek and Karen Louise Doze. The Anderson family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Mission Health's staff for the kindness and care extended to Barbara and the family in the days leading up to her passing. A private memorial service will be presented on Saturday, April 24th. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Mrs. Anderson's preferred charity, Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.
