Barbara J. Tipton

Arden - Barbara Jean Devine Tipton, 79, of 9 Rosetta Lane died Sunday January 4, 2009 at her residence after an extended illness. A native of McKittrick, CA, she had resided in Manchester, KY before moving to Asheville in 1954. She retired from St. Josephs Hospital patient services and was formerly employed with Three Mountaineers. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Gene and Elisabeth Hyde Devine. Surviving are her daughters, Ruby Monteath of Asheville and Elizabeth Conley of Leicester; son, Jimmy R. Tipton of Louisiana; brother, Donald H. Devine of Radcliff, Ky; grandson, Christopher Conley of Leicester; great grandson, C.J. Conley; great granddaughter, Kasydi Conley and special friend Danny Watson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Benton officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
