Barbara Fryar Woodby

May 23, 1938 — August 8, 2015

Barbara Louise Fryar Woodby, 77, of 129 Little Knob Road, Asheville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 8, 2015 at her daughters residence in Elgin, SC. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late George William Fryar and Hazel Clara Lee Fryar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Thurman Woodby, Jr.; brothers: George Fryar, and Jim Fryar; and sister, Betty Ann Gilbert. Barbara was a long-time member of the Red Hat Society. Surviving are her Children: Mark Allen Woodby of Fairview, Ronald William Woodby of Asheville, Sharon L. Ross of Elgin, SC, and Sandra Kay Baker and husband Larry of Arden; grandchildren: Chris, Stacy, Tanja, Crystal, Josh, Chris, Jennifer, Austin, Patrick, and Cody; 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Traci Hoglen officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Swannanoa. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Monday at the funeral home.
