Barbara D. Mcelreath

Asheville – Barbara Dean Riley McElreath went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Haywood County and resident most of her life in Buncombe County, she was formerly employed with American Enka Corp and a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mrs. McElreath was a daughter of the late Joseph Ercell Riley and Bertha Lee King Riley and the wife of John Lafayette McElreath who died August 18, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Riley Hall and Frances Lee Riley Mears. Surviving are her son, Jason McElreath and wife, Belinda of Candler; Grandchildren, Shaianne Riley Stephenson, Abel Knox McElreath and Ava Grace McElreath; great granddaughter, Shailene Kylee Stephenson; great grandson, Ellis Stephenson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, March 22, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Keith Hutchinson and Rev. Don Hood officiating. Mrs. McElreath will lie in state at Anders Rice Funeral Home Sunday afternoon for those that wish to come by and pay their respect.
