Swannanoa - Barbara Bennett Mitchell, 66, of 129 Edwards Avenue, went to be with her Lord Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Kansas University Medical Center. Barbara graduated from Bible college in 2002 and was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She provided nursing services for over 40 years. Her strong faith in God gave her the strength to use her illness as a witness to others. Barbara was preceded in death by her Dad and Mom, Lewis and Mildred Bennett. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Mitchell of Swannanoa; mother, Mary Bennett of Swannanoa; daughters: Lynne Fox and husband Charles of Kansas City, KS, with whom she had made her home for the past two years, Vicki McKnight and husband Jimmy of Swannanoa, Linda Roberts of Nashville, TN, and Angie Faulkner and husband Ken of Asheville; step-daughters: Lisa De Ronde and husband Mike of Akron, OH, Cherise Revis of Asheville, and DeAnn Bonilla and husband George of Laguna Beach, CA; brother, Jack Bennett and wife Joyce of Bristol, TN; 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Meetze and Rev. Charles Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eric McKnight, Derick McKnight, Jay McKnight, Jackie Bennett, Jr., Scott Bennett, Cole Roberts and Brint Russell. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Mary Bennett, 114 Edwards Avenue, Swannanoa.
