Aveline E. Griffin

September 29, 1925 — March 7, 2021

Asheville – Aveline Guffey Griffin, 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2021. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church and the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired from Three Mountaineers Inc. Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Walter Guffey and Malinda Work, and the wife of Frank Grover Griffin who died in 1980. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Max Guffey and Kenneth Guffey. Mrs. Griffin was a great cook and loved cooking for her family and the homebound. She loved working in her yard and taking care of her beautiful flowers. Surviving are her daughters: Judy Harwood and husband Steve of Asheville, and Kay Ross and husband Don of Charlotte; granddaughter, Beverly Rochester and husband Bill of Matthews; two great-granddaughters; and brother, Ron Work and wife Jane of Orlando, FL. Funeral services for Ms. Griffin will be held at 12 PM Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Newbridge Baptist Church, with Rev. Clark E. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Masks and social distancing will be required. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newbridge Baptist Church, 199 Elkwood Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804.
