Ava Crowder Langford, 91, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. A NC native, she resided in Oakley most of her life, and was a member of the Biltmore Holiness Temple for over 50 years. A proud American War Mother, she volunteered countless hours at the VA over a 15 year period. She was a daughter of the late Effie and Herman Crowder and the wife of the late Harold Langford. Surviving are her four children: Jim Langford of Asheville, Jane Langford of Jacksonville, FL, Calvin Langford of Asheville, and Effie Elaine Ballis (Chris) of Jacksonville, FL. Her joy was her grandchildren: Jamie Langford (Veronica), Kathy Moore, Casey Blackwell (Jott), Ronald Murphy II (Renee), and her many beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Helen Quakenbush of Asheville, Ruth Edmonds of CA, Ora Mae Laws of IN; brother-in-law, Jack Williams of Black Mountain; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3PM Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Biltmore Christ Temple, 260 Fairview Rd. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
